BAGS WITH STYLE & SUBSTANCE
High tech, low impact, and utterly irresistible; meet the futuristic forever-pieces on every futurist's wish list. When the inimitable Dame Vivienne Westwood said, "Buy less, choose well," she couldn't have foreseen how important and relevant her words would be for the times we are living in. Taking stock of our lifestyles and lowering our personal environmental impact has never been more critical. Thankfully, when it comes to our fashion choices, we don't need to leave great style behind. By choosing investment pieces we adore (and will fall deeper in love with over time) and selecting brands that take sustainability seriously, we can ensure our wardrobes are as consciously minded as we are.
This season's noteworthy accessories are a lesson in style and substance. From low-impact materials and faux-leather finishes to carbon-neutral production, each of these pieces offers longevity, innovation and style in spades.
GREEN INITIATIVES AT MULBERRY
Take heritage brand Mulberry. Thanks to its Mulberry Green initiatives, the quintessentially British label is becoming a leader in environmental best practices, committed to transparency, regeneration and circularity across its supply chain from farm to finished product. As signatories of the UN Fashion Charter for Climate Action, the team is using a Science-Based Target approach to reach carbon neutrality by 2035.
Over 1.5 million coffee cups are repurposed for Mulberry paper bags each year, and the label even offers a dedicated exchange service to help extend the life cycle of its products. This season's must-have - the Sadie chain shoulder bag - was created in honour of the label's 50th anniversary. Crafted in one of Mulberry's carbon-neutral Somerset factories, this arm candy with a lighter footprint proves heritage doesn't mean old hat.

B CORP CERTIFCATION AT CHLOÉ
Last October Chloé became the first luxury brand to earn B Corp certification, a designation that a business is meeting high standards of accountability, transparency and charitable giving. The brand says “Rather than a final goal, this certification makes a new stage in our transformation toward a purpose-driven model, reinventing how we do business. "This Chloé Kattie Crossbody is just one such piece which which fits into this high standard of certification, made in Italy with the finest finish, it truly is a forever piece to have and hold close."

SUSTAINABLY SOURCED LEATHER AT DEMELLIER
DeMellier's core values centre around three main pillars; ethical & sustainable manufacturing, sustainably sourced materials and sustainable operations. Transparent in everything they do, every supplier the brand collaborates with is certified by the European Leather Working Group, which guarantees that the products are produced in environmentally responsible tanneries. Artisans handcraft their handbags and leather goods in a family-owned factory in the South of Spain, and when it comes to packaging, DeMellier uses partially recycled paper sourced from FSC-accredited suppliers with natural cotton, making it fully recyclable. From their ambitious goals to rigorous regulations, this brand takes standards seriously.
Demellier's Miniature Santorini basket bag may look sweet and understated, but its ESG credentials pack a punch. Made using natural, handwoven palm leaves with sustainably sourced Italian leather, this small but mighty accessory is the perfect combination of craft and consciousness.

While each of these pieces boasts its own conscious credentials, the overriding trend is clear; investing in something you love today that will serve you and the planet tomorrow is a choice you can be confident won't go out of style.
