M∙A∙C Cosmetics is one beauty brand that needs no introduction. From their iconic lipsticks to the best-selling Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, their products have become staples in makeup bags across the globe. But now, they are here to revolutionise our skincare. Here to bridge the gap between makeup and skincare, meet M∙A∙C Cosmetics’s latest creation: HyperBeReal. Designed to perform with and support makeup performance, all while caring for your complexion - this may just be the brand’s most exciting product launch yet. Here, we sit down with Aïda Moudachirou-Rebois, Global CMO at M∙A∙C Cosmetics, to learn more about this wonder range.
Q: WHY SKINCARE & WHY NOW?
A: “We pride ourselves in understanding the power of skincare in relation to makeup better than anyone else and have many iconic skincare products in our portfolio to prove it (think Strobe Cream & Fix+). Hyper Real takes our skincare portfolio to the next level, bridging the gap between makeup and skincare to showcase how our science-backed and artist-approved skincare is designed to perform with and support makeup performance – all while caring for your complexion. It’s been in the works for 3.5 years and we are beyond thrilled to bring it to life now!”

Q: WHAT MAKES THE HYPER REAL COLLECTION STAND OUT FROM THE TONNES OF OTHER SKINCARE PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET?
A: “Our point of differentiation is how we approach skincare, which is through skin artistry. This art of creating skin looks combines M∙A∙C’s expert, artistic knowledge of diverse complexions with the science of its high-performance products to create ‘unique-to-you’ routines that meet your skin goals. Approaching skincare through the lens of skin artistry positions us well against other competitor brands because we’re addressing skincare in a way that is unique to M∙A∙C.
Q: HAS THE HYPER REAL COLLECTION BEEN CREATED WITH THE SAME EXPERT, ARTISTIC KNOWLEDGE THAT M∙A∙C COSMETICS IS FAMED FOR?
A: “Absolutely. We say that this line is science-backed and artist-approved, which underscores our commitment to high-performance products made with artistry in mind. Everything we do is in partnership with our 13,000 artists all over the world. We don’t put anything out into the market until we get their blessing. When we concepted Hyper Real, we started by asking our artists what they needed to help perfect makeup application and what they are hearing from their consumers on the ground. They tested the products during every stage of the process. This helps them genuinely be able to speak about the products authentically because they believe in them.”
We wanted to create skincare in a way only M∙A∙C could do. It was all about creating something that would help prep the skin for the best makeup application, really bridging that link between skincare and makeup.
Q: WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE HYPER REAL COLLECTION?
A: “What I love about Hyper Real is that it really is made for all skin types and that’s something we were really purposeful about in developing all three products. Even during the testing stage, we made sure to test the Hyper Real Serumizer and Hyper Real Skincanvas on all skin tones. Additionally, Hyper Real Cleansing Oil is safe for sensitive skin and sensitive eyes and is designed for all skin types – including oily skin.”
Q: HOW IMPORTANT IS SKINCARE WHEN IT COMES TO MAKEUP?
A: “So important! In order to create the best canvas for makeup application, there are certain things your skin needs, like hydration and smoothness. That is why we made sure to pack our products with premium ingredients that would help hydrate and retexturise the skin.”
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PRODUCT WITHIN THE RANGE?
A: “My personal favourite is the Hyper Real Serumizer. I love products that really work hard for you, and this does just that – acting as both a serum and a moisturiser. This incredible product balances, retexturises and strengthens the skin barrier in one, weightless formula.”
Q: BOTH THE HYPER REAL SERUMIZER AND HYPER REAL SKINCANVAS BALM ARE POWERED BY THE PRO-4 POWER INFUSION MATRIX, CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THIS MEANS?
A: “We did a lot of consumer research and had in depth conversations with our artists all over the world to understand what some of the biggest skin needs were. Hydration and smooth texture always bubbled up to the top so we developed the Pro-4 Power Infusion Matrix, which is a set of four premium ingredients that balance, retexturise and strengthen the skin barrier for a petal-soft, makeup-ready canvas with lit-from-within radiance.”

Q: HOW CAN THE NEW HYPER REAL COLLECTION HELP REPAIR THE SKIN AFTER NOT JUST PARTY SEASON BUT THE HARSH WINTER ELEMENTS?
A: “A key skin concern during the winter is dryness, which is why we packed the Hyper Real Serumizer and Hyper Real SkinCanvas Balm with Hyaluronic Acid to deliver a burst of rejuvenating moisture and ceramides to protect and improve the skin’s barrier strength and aid in moisture retention as part of our Pro-4 Power Infusion Matrix. Even the Cleansing Oil effectively removes stubborn makeup, pollutants and micro-dust while maintaining the skin’s moisture balance.”
Q: WHAT’S YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE?
A: “Of course. Hyper Real is the perfect first step in creating my perfect morning makeup routine. I always like to start with the Cleansing Oil to remove any impurities. Then I typically go in with my staple Fix+, a multitasking mist, as it’s been part of my skincare routine for many, many years. Then I add two pumps of the Serumizer, which is a serum/moisturizer hybrid. During drier days I’ll add Skin Canvas Balm for an extra boost of hydration. Then it’s time to get into the makeup!”
