We are the magic-makers and we are the dreamers of dreams. We love that we are the heart of all your Christmas traditions whether it be in Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Galway. From that first glance at our windows as child to finding a gift of a pair of Gucci slippers or bottle of Chanel N°5 all wrapped in Brown Thomas style under your tree, we are here to surprise and delight you, and what better way to do this than to evoke the glamour and razzmatazz of the golden age of cinema. Our Dublin store windows, the Marvel Room and all across our stores you will find a little MGM magic waiting for you to enjoy.
SHALL WE DANCE
As the nights draw in at this time of year nothing creates a more festive feeling than a classic Hollywood film. With this in mind our creative team looked to old school favourites and modern classics to inspire the look and feel of Christmas this year. You'll see Hollywood glamour from our favourite movies: Shall we Dance, Vanity Fair, Cabaret, Moulin Rouge and the Greatest Showman. Mascots of the season were Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire whose timeless elegance and incredible dance offs had us tap-dancing at our desks dreaming up decorations and entertainment to dazzle you this festive season. We hope you'll raise some jazz hands with us for a starry Christmas ahead, here's how we made the magic happen.
OUR WONDERFUL WINDOWS
Our windows make Christmas memories and this year is no different. Inspired by classic film and the glamour of old Hollywood each of our 8 windows are inspired by the decadence, music, costume and glamour of the films of the golden age. You'll find a be-feathered showgirl, screen starlet in a Manhattan skyline and much, much more all lit up with golden light. Be sure to take a look on your Christmas shopping trips to the store, there's a little magic for everyone.
CHRISTMAS MICE MINATURES
We love to have a little something for our littlest customers to enjoy in our windows, cue our Christmas mice who have been up to mischief in the windows skiing down pop-corn machines and capturing snaps on mini cameras as mice paparazzi – they are there to add a little fun to your day. Make sure you take a closer look with your little ones to see them in all their miniature glory as you walk down Grafton Street.
THE MARVEL ROOM
For the Marvel Room this year the décor went deco in style. Our creative team created a space which conjures up the foyer of an Art Deco style cinema, complete with ticket booth, glamorous elevator doors and of course the most marvellous gifting our store has ever seen.
THE GREATEST OPENING SHOW
Our windows couldn’t open without a big bang! And boy did we put on a show. The greatest window opening kick-started the Marvel Room and the Christmas season with all singing, all dancing action right outside our very doors.
