THE SCIENCE OF STAUD
Meet Sarah Staudinger, one of the founders behind the LA-based label who’s found a winning fashion formula. Scroll down and discover that sunshine-friendly Los Angeles influence that emanates through every piece of STAUD’s Spring Summer 2019 offering…
Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto, co-founders of Staud.
In 2015, Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto were craving clothing and accessories that ticked a few boxes; they wanted pieces that were timeless and affordable, unique, modern and utterly covetable. Like all great entrepreneurs, they decided they could do it themselves, and STAUD was born. The result is an aesthetic best described, Sarah says, as art teacher chic, “Not too fussy, a bit sculptural, often monochromatic, with weird statement earrings, styled with a low messy bun.”

This year’s spring summer collection has something for anyone with boho-chic leanings. As for STAUD’s official style icons and inspirations, says Sarah, “Each season is naturally centered around one or two muses or one of the great couples throughout history, everyone from Slim Keith to Jeff Bridges.”

The perfect summer outfit from STAUD is our tortoise sunglass chain seen through a Shirley clear totes paired with a flirty drink, preferably with an umbrella or some form of drink jewellery.

Redefining beach bags with the Loni and Moreau bags.
Speaking of essential accessories, STAUD’s handbags have become instant cult classics. Their Moreau and Mini Bisset became two of the most sought after summer bags of 2018 and continue to be at the top of wish lists this season. How did they manage to cultivate such a dedicated accessory following in such a short time? “When it was first released, the Moreau bag was unlike anything else in the market in terms of design and price point,’ Sarah explains, “I worked hard to create a bag that was inspired by the past but has the functionality needed for a modern woman.”

This season, however, Sarah’s has a couple of new pieces that are destined for sell-out status, “The Hutton is my new favourite - the shape is so unique it really moves beyond the typical handbag. I’m also loving our Keaton. It is the type of bag you don’t put away in your closet. You leave it out as decor, or at least I do. It is currently living and thriving on my dresser full of my necessities. They’re both vintage-inspired bags with an architectural element.”

In its four short years in existence, STAUD has taken up a special place in people’s wardrobes, serving women who are looking to transcend trends and instead tap a carefree, timeless sense of style. So, what’s next? “A vacation in Greece please,” says Sarah, and then it’s all about growth, “We’ve just launched our first shoe collection and we’re moving into belts and hats.” As for STAUD’s future, it’s as bright as sunshine.
