HER EMPOWERING CAREER-CHANGE

In truth, Anissa Kermiche had already made quite a name for herself in London’s jewellery world when her ceramics went stratospheric during the first lockdown. But if it was not for a brave move the world might never have known these covetable curvacious ceramics. What was this act of bravery you ask? At 27 she ditched her engineering job to study jewellery in the world-renowned Central Saint Martins in London. Thus, embarking on a new world of creativity complete with a new social scene of clubbing she'd never experienced before. Her final collection was a resounding success bringing her to the attention of buyers and designers alike.

When decorating her own flat in Marble Arch in London she decided to turn some of her sketches into reality starting with the Jugs Jug. What happened next changed the direction of her life and business once again. Every visitor, including some note-worthy buyers to enter her home wanted one and so her ceramics empire was born.

THE FEMALE FORM

The French-Algerian based a lot her design concepts on the female form in contrast to the male-dominated world of her upbringing in Paris between strict immigrant parents and a previous career in a nearly-all-male engineering office. As a result, her work is a social commentary placing women at the forefront, tongue-in-cheek yet empowering in design.

Her depictions of the female form have won her fame and notoriety and a following of strong and successful women who revel in the modern and uncompromising compositions of these sculptural designs celebrating feminity in all its glory. Watch this space as Kermiche is set to expand into other categories later this year such as lamps, mirrors, tableware and even furniture that you are sure to be spotting in the background of your favourite influencers selfies for some time to come.
