What is K-Beauty and why is it better?
Korean skincare and beauty brands are renowned for their cutting-edge formulations and ingredients. The glass skin trend centres around hydrated, dewy skin and puts skincare at the centre of your beauty routine with products powered by Centella Asiatica, snail mucin and more.
What is the Korean 10-step skincare routine?
A 10-step Korean skincare routine is a multi-step regimen that focuses on hydration, gentle exfoliation, and targeted treatments to achieve its results. These steps may include:
- Oil-based cleanser: first step of your double cleanse, designed to remove makeup and oil-based impurities.
- Water-based cleanser: second step of your double cleanse, to wash away sweat, dirt and any other residual impurities.
- Exfoliator: using ingredients such as Glycolic Acid to remove dead skin cells and reveal brighter skin.
- Toner: balances the skin's pH levels, preparing it for better absorption of future skincare products.
- Essence: often enriched with ingredients like snail mucin, hydrates skin to give that glass skin effect. Essence is often considered the central step of any Korean skincare routine.
- Serum/Ampoule: includes active ingredients designed to target your skin's specific needs, such as fine lines or acne.
- Sheet Mask/Face Mask: provides a powerful boost of hydration. When it comes to Korean skincare, there's never enough hydration!
- Eye Cream: protects and nourishes the delicate undereye skin, supporting brightness and addressing signs of ageing or tiredness.
- Moisturiser: hydrates and seals in all the goodness of the previous products.
- SPF: protects the skin from UV damage and prevents fine lines, uneven skin tone or texture, and dryness.
Is K-Beauty suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin?
Yes! Our K-Beauty brands offer a range of products designed to suit every skin type. For sensitive skin, reach for products such as Dr. JART+ Ceramidin range, designed to protect the skin barrier. For acne-prone skin, look for active ingredients such as niacinamide and salicylic acid from brands like Medicube. For sensitive and acne-prone skin types, we always suggest starting with a patch test (applying your new product to a small area first to monitor for reactions).
