Pillars of Style

We run through the key fashion trends and hero pieces that will be the pillars of your wardrobe for the season ahead. From pared back chic to winter florals, executive suiting to elegant everyday pieces in luxe fabrics, it's a line-up we can all get behind. Step this way for a quick guide to the season…

Trend: Hourglass

THE HOURGLASS SILHOUETTE

“The catwalks celebrated cinched waistlines and A-line skirts, at Balmain the trend was all about embellished midi skirts paired with fitted blouses, while at Balenciaga, Versace and Erdem, streamlined bodice dresses added drama to eveningwear.”

Trend: Real Talk

THE EVERYDAY LOOK

“Designers were all about elevating the everyday this season by combining the effortless comfort of casual wear with the refinement of luxury. Miu Miu led the way with a relaxed vibe by working leather and wool coats with oversized hoodies – a casual-cool look we will all want to wear.”

Trend: Savage Garden

THE WINTER FLORAL PRINT

“Rich burgundy floral prints at Erdem and deep purple and muted pinks at Dries Van Noten brought life to winter florals. Designers encapsulated the feeling of autumnal forests and natural landscapes in incredible prints for our new season wardrobe.”

Trend: Quiet Luxe

THE TAILORED SEPARATES

“The mood for a more refined and timeless aesthetic continues, allowing for versatility in wear and longevity in style. It is a way to make a statement without being too loud or ostentatious, giving a sense of reserved yet effortless chic. Victoria Beckham’s elegant dresses and asymmetric jacket with chain strap clutch are case in point.”

Trend: Seeing Red

THE COLOUR RED

“Red was one of the standout colour trends that dominated the catwalks, from deep burgundies to bright scarlets, this look is all about embracing the power and energy of exquisitely deep hues, Dolce & Gabbana and Loewe show us how it's done.”

Trend: Turn up the Volume

THE PARACHUTE DRESS

“Designers worked volume to the max on the catwalks, at Jil Sander her airy, generously cut parachute dresses teamed with rubber sole boots were uplifting and new.”

Trend: Precious Metals

THE GOLD DRESS

“Bringing a sense of opulence to the season; golds, silvers, and bronze shimmered across the collections, most notably at Dries Van Noten where exquisite gold leaf metallic was painted onto statement outerwear and at Dolce & Gabbana where liquid gold body-con dresses are ready to inject a sense of drama and optimism into everyone’s wardrobes.”

Trend: Sheer Delights

ELEVATED EVENINGWEAR

“A trend that plays with transparency, introducing sheer fabrics like lace, chiffon and organza into carefully curated designs. Designers focus on subtlety and suggestion for this trend, with sheer fabrics highlighting features without fully revealing them. Stella McCartney’s lace cut-away dress is a hero piece for party season as is Richard Quinn’s floor sweeping cobalt blue gown.”

Trend: Executive Suit

THE TAILORED SUIT

“As workwear continues to inspire fashion; this trend takes this concept to the next level with sharp tailoring, rich fabrics, and clean lines. Best seen at Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Balmain, it’s a look that is all about power and professionalism whilst maintaining a fashionable edge with pin stripe tailoring and exaggerated shoulder pads.”
