Destination Wedding EditionWhat To Wear As The Bride
Recently engaged? Congratulations! Planning a destination wedding? How exciting!
Destination weddings are rapidly increasing in popularity, with some analysts suggesting that 1 in 5 couples consider getting married abroad. We can see why!
But there is one important thing to take into account if you’re planning a wedding abroad, and that is what to wear! Destination weddings often involve multiple different events, so we've compiled outfits for every step of the way.
What to wear to... your legal marriage!
When it comes to destination weddings, the legalities can sometimes be confusing. Many brides opt to get legally married in a sweet registry office ceremony here in Dublin prior to the big day abroad. Think of that as your marriage, and the day in the sun as your wedding!
You’ll want something suitably bridal, of course, but not necessarily traditional. We suggest a crisp white or cream tailored two-piece, paired with chic heels and a beautiful clutch. And, of course, the perfect manicure.
What to wear to... fly out!
Why not stick to the theme of white, even as you fly out to your big day? We recommend doing it in timeless style by pairing a comfortable pair of wide-leg trousers with a white or cream tank. Be sure to bring a light white shirt with you to throw over your shoulders if you get cold on the plane, and don’t be afraid to accessorise.
Now all you need to do is go to the airport lounge and order yourself a glass of bubbly! Cheers.
What to wear to... the night before!
Some couples opt for a cocktail reception the night before, to welcome their guests. Some choose to have dinner with their nearest and dearest after the rehearsal. Whatever your plans, this night marks the start of the celebrations.
We recommend a comfortable dress or perhaps a two-piece ensemble, something that is fun and full of optimism for the occasion ahead. It’s a good opportunity to incorporate a little colour or sparkle into your look with the right accessories. This will really highlight the crispness of your otherwise white ensemble.
What to wear... to the ceremony!
Your wedding dress is a very personal choice. While some women prefer more traditional bridal options, others are looking to their favourite designer names for inspiration. If this is you, we recommend reaching for modern gowns from the likes of Roksanda and Taller Marmo, designed for the woman who prefers a more unique style.
What to wear to... the reception!
A lot of brides these days are opting for an outfit-change at their reception, usually choosing something a little more fun and freeing so that they can dance the night away in both comfort and style.
The mini-dress trend for reception-wear has most recently been exemplified by Sofia Richie. Below, we’ve compiled some of our favourite ensembles that will dial up the glamour.
