HOW TO DRESS UP FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR

Have you missed getting dressed up? Christmas is coming so whether you’re having a virtual party with friends, putting on the ritz for a family dinner or you just want to lift your spirits, the joy of dressing up has never been more important, we talk to 3 of our Personal Shoppers on their thoughts on festive looks to show off this season - both on and off screen.

BACK TO THE LITTLE BLACK & RED DRESS

Balenciaga, Valentino and Victoria Beckham welcomed the return of black with skin-baring necklines. We love the head to toe black look, whether you go for a mini from Rotate or Ganni to a maxi from JW Anderson and Victoria Beckham, style with everything from embellished heels to chunky boots. While the red dress also made an impact on the catwalks this season, we think its the ultimate investment buy of the season. Make it a hot red, preferably from Dolce & Gabbana or Valentino.

SHIMMER LIKE A STARRY NIGHT

Bring the party home by choosing glamorous dresses that you can dance around the kitchen in. The autumn winter catwalks dipped into the dress-up box from the 20th century with Dries Van Noten, Rotate and Victoria Beckham showing 1970s and 1980s silhouettes with decadent details and high-shine finishes. We love Rixo London and Victoria Beckham's star printed dresses and shimmering 1970s sequin dresses from Rotate and Retrofete to glimmer by the fireside in.

I think we should all still wear sequins and fabulousness this Christmas, regardless of how many people you'll be able to show off to in person, fashion has the power to transform.

GLOW IN WINTER WHITE

Winter white looks are a great way to bring lightness to the darker months of the year. White dresses from Rotate, Khaite, Balenciaga, Jil Sander and Bottega Veneta offer 5 very different ways to wear the style right now. Make like the Khaite runway and style with black leather knee high boots or a flash of shocking pink accessories.

I have always loved the way clothes make me feel. I dress up for my virtual appointments all the time because I want my customers to be inspired. But for Christmas I think dressing up can change and really lighten your mood and I believe enjoying and wearing what you have in your wardrobe is more important than ever.

FLORALS BRING THE FUN

The beauty of the floral dress is its ability to take you seamlessly from day to night and even from season to season. And while this Christmas most events will be closer to home it doesn't mean you need to compromise on style. Winter-inspired blooms were magnified on dark backgrounds creating dramatic statements this season. Our favourites for the festive season are statement blooms from Erdem, Paco Rabanne and Richard Quinn, easy to layer with knits, coats or jewels as the occasion requires.

For me Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without dressing up. It is a way we can still celebrate and have some fun, even if people can only see you virtually.
