Crafted by Tweedmill and tartan specialist Araminta Campbell, this timeless picnic rug is inspired by our very own distinctive heritage. Our signature Eau de Nil shade is at the centre of the design, whilst the bright flame yellow hues recall Fortnum’s beginnings as being resellers of candle wax from the royal household. The deep red echoes the colour of our store’s carpets running throughout the interiors, and the outer red check consists of 12 threads, representing the service Fortnum & Mason has provided to 12 Royal Monarchs – including HM Queen Elizabeth II. Finally, let’s not forget bees – the pale yellow tramlines placed across the soft green ground are an homage to our beloved beehives on our Piccadilly store rooftop. The outdoor accessory has been woven in the UK with pure new wool and features an essential polyester nylon backing for a waterproof finish – ideal for picnics come rain or shine. Complete with leather straps, this perfectly-portable blanket will see you through any unexpected drizzle.
