Make way for dewy skin, barely-there brows, glossy lips and more.
When it comes to beauty trends, there tends to be one product or look that pulls rank. In 2016, it was eyebrows; in the 1980s, it was all about blusher and just last year, bold shadows reigned supreme. For 2023, however, it’s all about skin. “2023 is going to be such an exciting year for makeup,” says Ramiz Habibovic, M·A·C PRO Team Artist. “At M·A·C, we kicked off the year with our amazing Hyper Real Skincare launch. It’s all about starting with skin when it comes to having the perfect base for your look.”
But the trends don’t stop there. From barely-there brows to glossy lips, here M·A·C PRO Team Artist, Ramiz Habibovic, reveals the top beauty trends of 2023 and how to get the look.
BARELY-THERE BROWS
Barely-there brows have slowly but surely started to take over beauty bags everywhere. Pinterest searches for bleached eyebrows are up 246% since the start of the year, as well as a massive 156 million TikTok views for the trend. Ramiz says, “We’re so far gone from the block brow that was popular in 2016. We realise now that they pull focus from the rest of your makeup. Pairing a flawless base with a flush of colour on the lips (or a bold statement lip) and a barely-there brow will help draw focus to where it needs to be.”

“Product choice is so important when it comes to achieving this trend,” explains Ramiz. “What I love to use is the M·A·C Brow Styler in a shade lighter than your natural brow colour and used in an upward motion to create brow hair strokes instead of filling in the entire brow. DEWY SKIN
Dewy skin is to beauty what an LBD is to fashion: timeless. Season after season, year after year, radiant skin dominates the beauty trends and for good reason. “Dewy skin will forever have a place in my heart,” says Ramiz. “We all want our skin to look healthy and glowing, this is something that will never change. I think in the past couple of years the ‘no makeup’ makeup has become so popular and having glowing skin with light coverage has become so aspirational. This year at M·A·C that is what we are giving you products that you can easily recreate this look at home and be able to customise it to suit your own style.”

“To achieve dewy skin, skincare is key,” explains Ramiz. “Start by cleansing the skin with the M·A·C Hyper Real Fresh Canvas Cleansing Oil. GLOSSY LIPS
Synonymous with the 1990s, lip gloss has been making a slow but steady return for some time now. But it seems this Spring is the time to truly embrace the trend. “For me, glossy lips conjure up images of plump hydrated lips,” says Ramiz. Something on the lips that feels more comfortable to wear than a matte lip which also makes your lips look fuller? Yes please!”

“Achieving a glossy-looking lip could be as simple as adding a little bit of our Lip Conditioner or Glow Play Lip Balm over your chosen lip colour,” explains Ramiz. “But if we’re talking neutral lip combo (which I think would appeal to most) my recommendation would be to use the Whirl Lip Pencil to outline your lip shape first, then apply our iconic Viva Glam 2 Lipstick which is just the perfect neutral shade that suits all skin tones, and top it all off with Clear Lipglass.
