Famous Faces At Brown Thomas
Over the years, Brown Thomas has proudly welcomed some of the most iconic names and faces in fashion, beauty, music, film and even royalty, to our hallowed halls. From Hollywood stars, such as Ingrid Bergman and Rita Hayworth, to legendary supermodels Elle MacPherson, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon, and even fashion icons such as Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Manolo Blahnik, the list goes on. Join us as we take a look back through the archives, and remember some of our favourite visitors and famous faces.
1: Princess Grace (Grace Kelly) And Prince Rainier
During Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco’s state visit to Ireland in 1961, Brown Thomas welcomed the royal couple for a photography exhibition. Great crowds gathered on Grafton Street to catch a glimpse of the famed silver screen star and the royal prince. The store was decorated in the Monacan colours of red and white, and the flag of Monaco was hoisted when they entered the store. The Princess was presented with a Carrickmacross lace mantilla on arrival.
2: Victoria Beckham
Fashion hero Victoria Beckham watched her daughter, Harper, take her first steps on the Brown Thomas fashion floor during a 2012 visit to launch her fashion range. Now, back to swarms of fans, she once again graced the spiral staircase, this time heading down to the beauty hall to visit her makeup counter in all its glory.
3: Michael Bublé
Christmas came early for crowds on Grafton Street when Michael Bublé performed outside the store in 2011 for the unveiling of the Christmas windows. It was a magical night for all, and one we fondly remember today.
4: Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney, famed for her stunning, yet sustainable designs, visited in 2005 to launch her namesake label in The Designer Rooms. The designer is now one of fashion's most sought-after names.
5: Alexa Chung
Designer, model, writer and fashion’s number one ‘IT’ girl, Alexa Chung, visited in 2014 to launch her collaboration with Nails Inc.
6: Charlotte Tilbury
In 2022 Dublin dazzled as beauty industry powerhouse Charlotte Tilbury swept into Brown Thomas, greeting beauty lovers with her iconic ‘Hello darlings!’ and a masterclass of makeup magic only she could deliver.
7: Pamela Anderson
Hundreds queued outside Brown Thomas on Grafton Street to see the former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, this time without her iconic red swimsuit. In 2006, the model and actor visited as spokesperson for M.A.C’s AIDS Fund VIVA GLAM.
8: Kate Moss
In 2023, Kate Moss launched her eponymous beauty and wellness brand, COSMOSS By Kate Moss, with us. The iconic supermodel joined us in our Grafton Street store to celebrate the moment.
9: Trinny Woodall
In 2024, Trinny Woodall joined us in-store to launch her beloved beauty brand, Trinny London. The full collection is now available online and selected stores including Planet Beauty Clarendon Street and Dundrum.
10: Naomi Campbell
In 1996, we held a runway show with an all-star line-up of supermodels featuring Naomi Campbell and more. The show was broadcast live on the Late Late Show from the Point Theatre (now 3Arena), raising money for three different charities.
