NEW TRADITIONS
We’ve taken one more lap around the sun together and it’s Christmas time again. This year will certainly be a different festive season and with that in mind we’ve asked some of our favourite creatives what new traditions they will be starting this year and the ones they can’t do without that have been passed on from generation to generation…
My favourite Christmas traditions is to eat Soviet style salads and to drink champagne before noon.

No Christmas would be the same without a traditional Swedish saffron bun. I'm always freshly baking them, it makes it far more fun

We’ve always put family first during the holidays, and this year will be no different. I think we’re really going to focus on how grateful we are to have each other. This year as a whole has certainly been different, but I’m thankful for the ways we’ve found to connect deeper with each other as a family in person or virtually.

On Christmas Eve I fly around Naas, where we live, doing the last few bits in the morning while the kids buy each other presents down town. The Christmas lights are on and carols are playing over speakers on the main street. There is a fabulous atmosphere. Then we always go out to our favourite restaurant for an early dinner with friends and all the kids. After a mad couple of weeks, it is so nice to start winding down. The kids love getting together and there is great excitement for Santas arrival. This dinner always marks the start of the Christmas break for me. Let’s hope we can get dressed up all see each other this year.

I love Christmas Eve, traditionally we make a BBQ in true Australian fashion but add some champagne. Most of all it’s about spending time with our sons and getting everything ready for Santa's visit and snuggling up to watch The Holiday, Elf or Daddy's Home ... you get the drift!
Fiona Stewart, Founder.
2020 will be remembered all over the world in the same way….cherish what we have. I’m focusing on the New Year. A new beginning, new mindset, new focus, new start, new intentions ang hopefully a new result.
Anne Marie Hermans, Founder.
Inspired by many Scandinavians, I’ve gotten into cold water swimming this year so a dip in the Baltic Sea on Christmas Day would be an energising start to the festivities!
Shaun Russell, Founder.
This year will be special for our family as we are welcoming a new baby at the end of November, and since my mum and family in France won't be able to visit and meet the newborn, we will try and create a celebration between the two families through a video call with a full Christmas decor on both sides to spark the imagination of the kids. We might even have a Santa too if we can pull that off!
Benoit Nicol, Founder.
Since this is the first time in years that we will be home for Christmas, we will be going back to our old traditions from when the children were young and we lived in Switzerland. The tree goes up on Christmas Eve in time for a family dinner as we have no plane to catch on St Stephens Day.
Lucy Hagerty, Founder.
With Christmas looking like a much more intimate affair in 2020, I am going to make a real effort to take things much slower on the day and will try to savour - and enjoy - the gentler pace. Cooking for large numbers can often feel like work, so taking the time to relax into a different kind of day is what I'll be focusing on for this year.
Domini Kemp, Restaurateur.
I plan on swimming in the freezing sea a few times a week and especially at Christmas. I started this recently and find it an amazing way to clear the head as well as giving me an energy boost and it is considered ro have great mental health benefits.
Mark Van den Bergh, Co-Founder.
Festivities will certainly look a little different this year so I’ll be focusing on really winding down and having some much needed time out! Gifting with purpose has never rung more true – we can still stay connected with loved ones by wrapping up something they really need this year. Create some calm in the chaos with our Perfect Peace blend.
Nicola Elliott, Founder and Creative Director.
