The Bridal Beauty Timeline

When it comes to preparing for your big day, there are so many things to consider. Bridal Beauty can be a little overwhelming; the makeup, the hair, the skin prep, the spray tans. That’s where we come in. We’ve created a handy timeline to help you nail all your bridal beauty milestones.

6 Months Before:

Start With The Skin

This might sound surprising, but when it comes to a bridal skincare routine, experts recommend you start 6 months out. Good skin provides the base for whatever makeup look you desire, and a meaningful change to your skincare regime can take time to show its results. We recommend first identifying your skin type and needs, and then choosing active ingredients based on your specific skin concerns. The most important thing is consistency; whatever new skincare regime you choose, make sure you are dedicated to it.

Take Care Of Your Hair

Some brides might be growing out their hair for the big day, some might just be trying to reverse some heat damage. Whatever your hair goals on the day itself, investing in solid haircare in the lead up will make your end result better. Haircare is much like skincare; it’s not necessarily one-size-fits-all. Our best recommendation? Choose a shampoo and conditioner that matches your hair’s unique needs: hydrating, clarifying, colour-friendly, smoothing… Follow up with bond-protecting leave-in treatments from Olaplex or K18 to protect and care for your hair, preventing split-ends, frizziness and more.

Tried & Tested

Many brides opt for professional hair and makeup for the occasion. If opting for this, you will most likely have some sort of trial beforehand. However, we suggest taking it a step further. Test the foundation you plan to wear on the day for longevity, coverage and colour match. Got a destination wedding? Make sure you test how your foundation stands up in the sun. Know you’ll be dancing all night long? See how it lasts a night on the town. Simply trying your foundation of choice on one day may not give you enough information, so picking up your own will allow you to test a multitude of settings, lengths and applications.

2 Weeks Before:

Head To Toe

Whether you plan on getting a spray tan or simply want supple soft skin, we recommend starting your bodycare routine at least two weeks before your wedding. This will involve a hydrating body wash or cleanser, followed by some kind of exfoliant, and then a nourishing lotion. Just like with facial skincare, a good exfoliant will not only remove dry or dead skin cells, but it will also help your body lotion and other products to penetrate your skin. You may choose to exfoliate 2-3 times a week, but it is important to moisturise your full body nightly for best results.

On The Day:

You May Kiss The Bride

If there’s one thing we think you’ll need to take with you on the day, it’s your lipstick and lip liner of choice. Weddings are long days, and no matter how long-wearing your lip product is, you’ll be glad of the opportunity to reapply. You’ll need to be photo-ready all day long, so having your lip products nearby for reapplication is essential.
