Tell us about the background to your brand…

It’s actually a funny story because the brand started quite organically. I never intended to start a company but 10 years ago, I was getting married and I couldn’t find the bridesmaid dresses I was dreaming of anywhere so I ended up designing them myself. Soon enough I had friends asking me for custom dresses, so I started doing personal orders and LoveShackFancy started evolving from there.

What do you think makes the perfect summer dress?

The perfect summer dress for me is something romantic and vintage inspired. I love dresses with intricate yet timeless details like ruffles, bows and lace.

How is your brand making steps to be more sustainable?

Our collaboration with Stripe & Stare is our first sustainable collection. It features the softest undies and charming nighties, and we are so excited to bring something new to our community. We opted for Tencel and Modal rather than cotton to lower the collection’s carbon footprint. Although I expect people are going to want to dress up again once things go back to normal, with most of us still working from home I wanted to give our customers loungewear that will make them feel feminine and beautiful—even in pyjamas!

Why do florals appeal to you?

Most of our prints are hand-made artisanal or vintage. I’m really big on taking classic floral prints and modernizing them for our collections. The goal is always for our prints to add a sense of beauty and romanticism into the wearer’s life.

Describe what summer means to you in 3 words?

Barefoot, sun and beach hair.

MEET KATIE LOPES OF STRIPE & STARE

Tell us about the background on the brand…

In 2017, together with my good friend Nicola Piercy, we launched Stripe & Stare, we wanted to create a loungewear brand, where all fabrics were sourced consciously with a transparent product journey that connects not only its wearers but creates a community where women empower each other.

What to you makes the perfect pair of summer pyjamas?

My ultimate favourites from our collection would be the Blooming Heirloom and La Vie En Rose sweatshirts which are perfect to wear as summer pyjamas - as soon as they come out of the wash I am back in them – they offer extreme comfort in the most beautiful prints. All we want right now. I love the joy this range has bought us as a team and our customers.

How is your brand making steps to be more sustainable?

When we started the brand we knew that we wanted to do it in the most responsible way. Years of research led us to Lenzing in Austria, an organisation who make the most truly sustainable fabrics that modern technology has to offer. They are carbon neutral (as are we), they reuse every raw material that goes into their production processes and the raw wood fibres they use are all sustainably sourced.

Why do florals appeal to you?

The floral prints for this collaboration all came from LoveShackFancy’s design studio - the team were constantly laughing at me during the development phase as I would have to take a few moments during meetings to just stare at them - I love them so much, and they are so wearable!
