IT'S TIME TO REVIVE YOUR LOVE OF LOUNGEWEAR

Now the presents have been bought and wrapped, it’s now time to hibernate for the next few weeks. A time best spent at home, in front of the TV or curled up by the fire with a good book, loungewear is here to take over your winter wardrobe. From day glow to night attire, this season's array of sleepwear and lingerie defies expectations. Never before has a pyjama set – or an eternally chic slip dress – been so multi-purpose. It’s a liberated look that feels right for 2023: a time where silk pyjamas are cocktail-appropriate, luxe robes are upgraded beyond the bathroom and indulgent fabrications have a chic twist as daywear. Ahead, the very best loungewear sets that will look (and feel) just as good sat at home as they would for any WFH days or weekend coffee dates.

SMOOTH AS SILK

Sleepwear today is so outré it doubles as ready-to-wear. Which are the brands leading the charge? A piece by Olivia Von Halle is a hallmark of refined luxury. The British designer creates delicate 100 per cent silk lounge and sleep pieces inspired by the glamour of the 1920s. Her inspiration? The lounging pyjamas worn by Gabrielle Chanel in her hey-day.

Each creation is made using traditional hand embroidery and screen-printing techniques for a wholly unique look. See the Lila octopus print relaxed-fit set. Did we mention it comes with a coordinating robe? Add a slipper (preferably a point-toe) as a final finesse. Alternatively, throw on a pair of heels and swill some champagne.

ROBE MOMENT

Glossy, tactile and feel-good: this season’s array of robes are more than just cover-ups. For 2023, stand-out robes play with delicate trims, exquisite lace and plush textures, making everyday moments feel like indulgent ones, whether you’re savouring a cup of coffee or luxuriating over the Sunday papers.

Silk success: La Perla’s brick red shirt robe, spun from exquisite silk charmeuse, is set to become the MVP of your loungewear wardrobe. Meanwhile, Agent Provocateur’s Molly lace-trim silk robe is a nod to classic femininity. If co-ords are your kryptonite, create a matching moment by indulging in the Molly chemise, too.

PRETTY IN PRINTS

Prints, please! As statement swirls and ritzy colours take hold this season a verdant maximalism abounds that’s both rich and print-heavy. Sophisticates will gravitate towards Eres’ seventies-inspired Doree pyjama set (note the belted waist for optimal elegance). Pair yours with an embroidered ditsy floral bra by queen of joyful underwear Dora Larsen, who is known for mixing candy colours with aplomb. How to make an entrance? Watch and learn: this botanical print robe by Olivia Von Halle will ensure your sashay is in full swing. If you want to go all-out, a matching chemise oozes second-skin comfort.

IT TAKES TWO

Comfort calling: the classic pyjama set gets a chic upgrade with statement silhouettes and bold prints for 2023. At Rixo, the Austin two-piece pyjama set in paisley print, replete with a striking contrast trim, was made for slouching in (add a shot of colour via Agent Provocateur’s Molly fluoro pink bra.) While Deiji Studio’s pyjama set in breathable linen comes in an oversized fit, with three-quarter length sleeves and an elasticated waistband. Think crisp cottons and cooling linens that are the sleepwear equivalent of fresh sheets. Good night’s sleep, incoming.

TICKLED PINK

This season pastels pack a punch. See Sleeper’s Fuzzy Pink Cardigan which throws back to the 1990s; it’s a nod to Clueless nostalgia we’ll gladly embrace. The Ukrainian brand is loved for its conscious approach to sleepwear; it uses OEKO-TEX®-certified linen which means its fabrics are free from harmful chemicals. In a hot pink shade, Sleeper’s Rumba linen lounge suit, made from breathable linen, features a knot and cuff detailing on top, while the bottoms boast an XL frilled hem. Complete the look with Dora Larsen’s Greta lace bra in vibrant lime green which is topped off with a dainty scallop trim.

LET IT SLIP

Is there anything more chic than a bedtime gown? No, according to Sleeping With Jacques, the brand that doubles down on the concept of evening wear. Its relaxed maxi slip dress, featuring a scoop neck, open back and side slits, is a devil-may-care statement for both downtime and after-dark dressing. We’d expect nothing less from the brand on a mission to bring exceptionally crafted sleepwear to life in the bedroom and beyond. Pair yours with stilettos or slippers – either way, it’s terrifically decadent.

CLASSIC & COOL

When it comes to sleepwear, you can never go wrong with a silk shirt that is at once superbly feminine and a nod to classic mens dressing. London label Agent Provocateur, which was founded in Soho in 1994, is synonymous with irreverent pieces that are an exercise in simple luxury – its silk pyjama shirt comes with a rounded collar, boasts a contrast piping trim and an embroidered AP monogram as a final flourish. Add a face mask, a good book or your favourite TV show into the mix and you’ve got the makings of a dream evening. Better yet: upgrade your me time with the coordinating Agent Provocateur logo robe.
