BACKSTAGE AT FASHION WEEK WITH M·A·C
Senior makeup artist for M·A·C, Lesley Keane, is no stranger to the delights of London Fashion Week. We went backstage to find out how to recreate some of the key looks from the Autumn Winter catwalk and to learn a thing or two about how to get more creative with our everyday makeup.
PREEN
For Preen the look was all about glitter.
RUNWAY TO REAL-LIFE
We started off by covering the face lightly to give a natural look with Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Gel adding a bit of Strobe for luminosity and layering a light product like Studio Conceal and Correct Duo. When your base is done, lay out your 3D Glitter Pigment on a sheet of paper. Apply Cream Colour Base in Pearl to the areas of the face you would like for the glitter to stick. This acts as a glue. All that’s left to do is find a friend to blow the glitter from the page onto your face!
I think nowadays people are getting a bit more creative with their make-up, glitter is not just for festivals or Christmas it has become part of people's everyday makeup.

ROLAND MOURET
Smokey slept in eyes set the mood at Mouret.
RUNWAY TO REAL LIFE
A smokey eye is no longer a 25 step process with dark shades. Instead we are seeing warmer looks with more taupe and tan tones. Begin by using Studio Waterweight Concealer as a foundation all over the face. Next, blend The Eye Pencil in Coffee into the lash line with a 209 Liner Brush and continue the whole way around the eye. Follow with a small amount of Fluidline Pen in Retro Black. To finish off the eyes, coat the top of the lashes with Extended Play Mascara. For an added sheen you can also apply Prep + Prime Highlighter to the lids. Lips are simple with Prep + Prime Lip giving a matte conditioned finish.
ROKSANDA
Roksanda showcased a chic understated look.
RUNWAY TO REAL LIFE
If you are looking for an invisible foundation look always start with Mineralize Timecheck Lotion a silicon base that evens the texture of the skin, add some Studio Waterweight Concealer where needed. Seal in your base with a layer of Supreme Beam Iridescent Powder. To achieve a toffee flushed tone, use Lustre Lipstick in Half N‘ Half on the cheek. With the palm of your hands massage into the cheekbones to give a natural flush to the face. Brush the brows with the Great Brows Set in Lingering. Finish the eyes with Extended Play Mascara. With a 287 Brush buff Lustre Lipstick in Hug Me onto the lips.
In reality women can’t carry 59 products in their handbags, you learn to multi-task with products like lipsticks. It’s all about finding what’s in your makeup bag and making it work hard for you.

PETER PILOTTO
Bright and beautiful clashing colours channelling 1970s glam rock and 1990s Courtney Love lit up lids at Peter Pilotto.
RUNWAY TO REAL LIFE
We started the look with Studio Fix Fluid Foundation as the base followed by Studio Fix Powder Plus to set for a full coverage, flawlessly clean base. Use your fingers to wipe the Pigment across the eye lids in complimentary colour combinations, (the opposite on the colour wheel) blue and orange, purple and yellow and so on, it’s a very clever way to make your makeup pop. Finally give your lips a treat with Lips Scrubtious in Sweet Vanilla followed by Lip Conditioner.
What’s great about M·A·C PRO is that there are now colours available you just wouldn’t have in everyday makeup lines. From lime green or sky blue in every possible texture and shade. It means you can be way more experimental with your makeup.
