TIME FOR TIGHTS

How To Pick The Right Fashion Tights

The leaves are falling, you’ve purchased a beautiful new pair of boots but the million denier question remains. How to layer those legs for the season ahead? Should you flirt with fishnets, opt for inky black opaques, shine in sheers or answer the call of autumn’s new block coloured hues? The catwalks and the street style set have provided us with numerous new ways to work autumn hosiery. At Saint Laurent and Versace 1980s black sheers reigned supreme while fish-nets added an edge at Dolce & Gabbana.

Whether you go for block colour or work sumptuous sheers take your cue from the catwalk or the street and find our latest selection from Wolford, Spanx, Falke, Swedish Stockings et al (available online and in store). They are certain to layer your legs and your top drawer in style.

BLOCK PARTY

Patterns, block colours and glitter tights are a great way to enliven or update a look. Grey is the new season "it" colour so take a leaf out of Pernille Teisbaek’s book and amp up your pencil skirt with a bold block colour.

SHEER DELIGHTS

Following on from the 1980s trend, seductive sheers and fishnets were seen across the catwalks. We recommend working lighter, sheerer deniers for autumn, letting your legs do the talking by pairing with knee high boots and an oversized jumper-dress as seen on Bella Hadid.

TOP FASHION TIGHTS TIPS

1. Tights are best preserved by being washed inside out, ideally by hand or inside a washbag in a machine.

2. Never tumble-dry or lay tights on the radiator (heat will kill the stretch), dry flat or drape over a clothes horse.

3. Avoid ladders with damp hands, place hands under tap, shake off excess water, use flat palms to pull tights up from ankles. This gives extra length, denier and strength needed to avoid ladders.

No trans-seasonal wardrobe is complete without a trusty pair of jeans, so why not Dial Up Your Denim for autumn?
