1. Acting Responsibly
Skandinavisk’s house rules for fragrance creation are stricter than the EU’s: absolutely no suspected carcinogens or suspected hormone disruptors are allowed. All fragrances are so safe they require no warning symbols to be placed on the packaging.
2. All Products Are Local, Natural and Organic
After burning for 4 hours, candles should be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and then trimmed before relighting. This is to prevent carbon from collecting on the wick, and causing it to 'mushroom'. If this happens, the flame can get too large and the wick can become unstable. This will ensure a longer lifespan for your candle, and more even burning.
3. They Use Plastic That Derives From Plants
The unique 450ml pump bottle and 225ml tube are made from renewably sourced bioplastics. These are recyclable, and as such minimise the impact plastic waste can have on the earth.
4. Their Wax Comes From Swedish Rapeseed
The new base for their candle wax is extracted from Swedish rapeseed oil that is traceable, sustainably farmed and non-GMO. This means that they have a lower environmental impact, and a smaller carbon footprint because they are not travelling as far.
5. They Have A Natural Water Source
Sourced from a natural well which is 130 meters deep, has been active for more than 60 years, and is directly below the Danish production site, this pure water is also used for drinking by the staff. Thus avoiding extra transportation costs or diversion of already scarce water supplies.
6. Animal-Friendly and Cruelty-Free
The entire home & body fragrance collection is now 100% cruelty-free. They range is nearly completely vegan, too, with the exception of the hand creams, which use beeswax. Skandinavisk use no other animal products and do not test their products on animals either.
7. The Packaging Is Made From Swedish Forests
Packaging card is sourced from managed Swedish forests, with natural colour dyes, and is FSC-certified.
