THIS IS THE HAIRCARE BRAND CELEBRITIES SWEAR BY
Channelling timeless glamour, Oribe is the ultimate in luxe hair care, having gained a cult celebrity following (think J-Lo, Meghan Markle, Lana Del Rey) and a permanent position on the bathroom shelves of the beauty world’s best tressed.
If you’re not familiar with the name Oribe Canales, you’re sure to recognise his work: Cindy Crawford’s iconic bouncy blowdry, J-Lo’s teased ponytail which graced the cover of his first album ‘On the 6’ and pretty much the hair of every supermodel during the late 1990s. Being the creator behind some of the most famed hairstyles, it was only fitting that Canales would translate his love of hairdressing and beauty into a collection of luxury products: Oribe.
Pronounced OR-bay, the haircare line debuted in 2008 with the help of co-founder Daniel Kaner. The result? A range grounded in traditional hairstyling blended with leading technology and the finest ingredients. Driven by results, Oribe does luxury haircare like no other and is now stocked in some of the most prestigious salons across the world. From the Oribe Dry Texture Spray and Hair Oil to the Supershine Moisturising Cream, every formula is designed to make hair look and feel its best, all while scenting tresses with Côte d’Azur – a signature aroma brought to life by a 19th-century perfume house. What’s more, it delivers on results making it little wonder as to why A-List celebrities, beauty editors and professional hairstylists fawn over the brand.
One such fan is celebrity hairstylist, Anna Cofone. Here, we sit down with Cofone to learn why Oribe should be on your locks’ wishlist.
Celebrity hairstylist, Anna Cofone.
Q: First things first, let’s get to know you…
A: “I am an international session hairstylist based in London but travel between here, New York, Paris and Copenhagen for work. I mainly work with music artists, fashion brands, photographers and directors - styling the hair for either an editorial shoot, advertising campaign, music video or red carpet events.”
Q: Why are you a hairstylist? What made you want to become one?
A: “I came into the industry after completing a degree in performing arts and production. This fuelled my interest in hair and makeup but I can remember being as young as 12 years old and continuously watching Fashion TV and looking through the pages of Vogue Italia. After the degree, I wanted to develop my skills in hairdressing and so I started a two-year apprenticeship. During this time I got to work alongside the art directors at seminars and photoshoots and I just loved the diversity and creativity. After winning the L’Oreal Under 25 ‘One To Watch’ Competition, I moved to London to pursue a career in session styling.”
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
A: “Honestly no day is the same, if I’m working on a music video, I can spend 3-4 days in my studio working on mood boards and prepping wigs. Generally a week is made up of several fashion shoots, studio prep work and updating my portfolio, website and Instagram.”
Q: You’re a hairstylist for so many celebrities, whose hair do you enjoy styling the most?
A: “Thats such a difficult question to answer! But if I had to choose, then I would say Lana Del Rey. We worked together for seven years from the start of her record deal, I had only completed 3 years of assisting work with Sam Mcknight and Eugene Souleiman so I was really new to the industry. I was so lucky to meet Lana when I did and to be responsible for all her looks for her album campaigns, music videos and tours.”
Q: Why Oribe?
A: “Oribe has been my go-to product for several years now. Performance is so important, especially in the session world. Sometimes you can be on set and the style or texture of the hair needs to last for several hours and in extreme weather conditions. I trust every product in the range and know I’m going to get maximum performance. I love the aesthetic and its dedication to craftsmanship.”
Q: What’s THE Oribe product everyone should own?
A: “Supershine Light Moisturising Cream. I love this product and use it on my own hair. Whether I am wearing my natural curls or have blow-dried it straight, it moisturises, gives shine and does not weigh the hair down.”

Q: Is that your favourite or is there another product you love?
A: “Dry Texturising Spray. It gives incredible volume and is a brilliant alternative to dry shampoo.”

Q: Is There Also An Unsung Hero Within The Oribe Range We Really Need To Try?
A: “Split End Seal, it has strengthening heat-activated protein to protect hair and repair up to 94% of split ends!”

Q: What’s one hairstyle you would love to see make a comeback?
A: “I’d love to see more people wearing mullets, its such a versatile shape and doesn’t have to be extreme or scary. I have curly hair but its beginning to thin, its one length and recently I cut lots of shorter pieces on top to create more volume but keep the length at the back, I love it and think its a style that can be adapted to suit lots of textures.”
Q: …And One Hairstyle You Wish Would Disappear?
A: “I’m getting bored of seeing women wearing these long styles that have so many added extensions, it feels overgroomed and unnatural.”
Q: What is the most common mistake we all make when it comes to hair?
A: “Not spending enough time on haircare! So many people wash their hair too often but don’t use a regular treatment. As well visiting the hairdresser regularly, you should be using a treatment on your hair at least once a week.”

Q: What Is Your Go-To Everyday Hairstyle And How To Achieve It?
A: “I love that messy twisted bun look, it can be worn in so many ways too and depending on what you’re wearing and what time of day, there are so many ways it can be worn. I love using a little Maximista in the roots and through to the lengths and ends, drying it in and pulling all the hair off my face - the product helps to give the hair some hold, and grit but is still malleable. I put it into a low ponytail and then spray Dry Texturising Spray through the lengths and ends. I then either twist or plait the tail and then wrap it around the base, secure with pins and then finish off by pulling out a few pieces to give it that ‘lived-in’ look.”
