OUR FASHION DIRECTOR’S GUIDE TO PARIS FASHION WEEK
Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton - the list of iconic French fashion houses is as iconic as it is vast. So it’s little wonder why Paris Fashion Week is a firm favourite amongst the fashion crowd, including our very own Fashion Director, Shelly Corkery. Here, she shares an insider guide to Paris Fashion week including what shows to see, where to shop and what to wear…
ON…HER LOVE FOR PARIS
“I adore everything about Paris. It has remained one of my absolute favourite cities since I lived there in my teens. You simply cannot beat the style, the architecture, the food and the glamour - the city is just so chic!”
ON…THE SHOWS TO SEE
“I always look forward to Saint Laurent and Christian Dior as they both put on an amazing production. Both shows are on the same day and will kick off our 2-week-long schedule in Paris, so it is always an exciting day. This year, our Paris Fashion Week schedule is packed with incredible shows to look forward too, it would be hard to pick my favourites…but I am also very excited for Loewe and Dries Van Noten. Last season, it was Dries Van Noten’s first show post-pandemic, and it was just an incredible collection and moment in fashion I will always remember.
I am also excited to see The Row as it is a quieter brand but magnificently presented and Paco Rabanne too, which has lots of exciting energy this season.”
ON…WHERE TO SHOP
“It would have to be the Avenue Montaigne: you have Prada at one end and Gucci at the other with Celine, Loewe, the simply magnificent new Dior store and so many other beautiful brands in between.”
ON…PARISIAN PEOPLE WATCHING
“For people watching, I adore the Hotel Crillon. It is one of my favourite spots to have lunch or a drink and check out the people and the fashion around you. You also have to visit L’Avenue on Avenue Montaigne - the best people watching spot in the whole of Paris!”
ON…WHAT TO DO
“I recently went to see the Christian Dior exhibition in Paris and it was fantastic, I would thoroughly recommend it! Unfortunately, between shows and appointments, our time is limited, so this time I may not get to view any exhibitions. However, there is an Azzedine Alaïa exhibition opening at the end of February that I will definitely make time to see if I can. I also always try to make time to visit Petit Palais or the Louvre as they also do such magnificent artist collaborations.”
